Privacy Policy
🔒 The short version
- ✓ You don't need an account to use Shuttlecast.
- ✓ Recordings stay on your device until you choose to share them.
- ✓ When you share, your media goes to your own cloud storage — not ours.
- ✓ We don't sell your data, show ads, or track you across the web.
This policy explains what Shuttlecast (“Shuttlecast,” “we,” “us”) does with your information when you use the Shuttlecast browser extension and website (together, the “Service”). Shuttlecast is designed to be local-first and privacy-preserving. If anything here is unclear, contact us at hello@shuttlecast.app.
1. Information we store on your device
By default, everything you create with Shuttlecast lives locally in your browser using extension storage and IndexedDB:
- Your recordings, screenshots, and interactive demos, and their thumbnails.
- Titles, descriptions, transcripts, step notes, folders, and app settings.
- Your optional profile name and workspace name.
This data does not leave your device unless you explicitly share a recording or configure cloud storage.
2. Information stored in your cloud when you share
Cloud sharing is optional and uses a storage project that you connect (for example, your own Supabase project). When you share a recording or demo, the media file and the metadata needed to play it (title, description, duration, thumbnail, and view/reaction/comment counts) are uploaded to that project so anyone with the link can watch it. Because it's your project, you control and can delete that data at any time. If a viewer leaves a reaction or comment, the name they type and their message are stored alongside the shared item.
3. Shared links and public pages
A share link makes a recording viewable by anyone who has the link. You can add a password to a link to restrict access. The public web pages that render shared recordings and the optional public library only display items you have chosen to share. Unlist an item at any time from the extension to make its link stop working.
4. What we don't do
- We don't require an account, email, or sign-up to record.
- We don't sell or rent your personal information.
- We don't serve third-party advertising or embed cross-site trackers in the extension.
- We don't access the contents of pages you record beyond what's needed to capture the recording you initiate.
5. Browser permissions
The extension requests only the permissions needed to record, save, and share — such as tab/desktop capture, storage, downloads, notifications, and the active tab. Permissions are used solely to deliver the features you invoke and are described on the Chrome Web Store listing.
6. Third-party services
If you enable cloud sharing, media is served through the storage and hosting providers you configure. Those providers process the data on your behalf under their own terms and privacy policies. Shuttlecast is not affiliated with, and does not control, those providers.
7. Your choices
- Delete anything, anytime — from the extension library, including removing cloud copies of shared items.
- Export your data — download a full JSON of your library and settings from Settings.
- Wipe everything — the Danger Zone in Settings deletes all local and shared data.
8. Children
Shuttlecast is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Service evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
